This article questions the oft-quoted statistic that 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Research findings are cited that indicate 23% of college graduates who married in the 1970s divorced within 10 years, while only 16% of those who wed in the 1990s divorced. The impact of marrying age is discussed, as well as findings that indicate less-educated, lower-income couples divorce more often than college graduates.
