The purpose of this paper is to explore the following question: Could a media campaign approach to marriage education be successful in helping individuals and couples form and sustain healthy marriages? We conclude that media campaigns could be effective. We review what public health communication scholars have learned from evaluations of past media campaigns (e.g., smoking cessation, obesity, teen pregnancy prevention). From this review we offer 10 principles to guide effective media campaigns focused on helping individuals and couples form and sustain healthy marriages.
