Designed for women, this workbook includes 21 self-tests and a small group discussion guide focused on enhancing communication skills in love relationships. The exercises seek to help women identify their personal communication style, understand how it interacts with their partners’ communication style, and talk their way to a healthier, stronger relationship. Specific topics addressed include: assessing your communication IQ, current couple communication strengths, finding the time to talk, different levels of communication, avoiding unwanted advice, identifying personal fear factors, identifying talk styles, speaking his language, listening, reading body language, knowing when not to speak, tuning into self-talk, testing respect levels, and talking from your strengths. The discussion guide is intended to be used with a DVD curriculum and includes discussion questions for six sessions that address fundamentals of communication, strategies for overcoming fear factors and creating a relational safety zone, personal talk styles, empathy, when not to talk, and self-talk.
