This workbook is designed to used in conjunction with “”Becoming One,”” a Christian-based book to prepare engaged couples for marriage and strengthen the relationship between married couples. Beginning chapters include exercises that address the need for intimacy and becoming one with a spouse and with God, learning how to love sexually, emotionally, and spiritually, and repairing intimacy diversions and drains. The following two chapters provide exercises for developing emotional intimacy. Four steps to emotional intimacy are explained: accept yourself as you are, share the facts of your life, share the feelings of your life, and accept the other person as he or she is. Chapters 6 and 7 focus on developing sexual intimacy and include exercises for addressing sexual fulfillment, sexual prohibitions, understanding references to passionate sex in the Bible, and overcoming barriers to fulfillment. Chapter 8 includes exercises for developing spiritual intimacy as a couple and removing barriers to the deepest level of intimacy, and Chapter 9 includes exercises for developing intimacy with God. A final chapter provides a self-assessment for evaluating levels of intimacy, commitment, and passion. Numerous references.
