The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), DHHS, is committed to helpingcommunities build comprehensive Community Healthy Marriage Initiatives (CHMI) designedto help couples who choose marriage for themselves form and sustain a healthy marriage. Thisinitiative is central to ACF’s mission of assuring the well-being of children. Each communityinterested in developing a CHMI is encouraged to build a broad community coalition as a basefor planning and implementing healthy marriage services. ACF encourages communities to usethe coalition approach to assure broad support, share community resources, and engage thecommunity at large in healthy marriage services. Of particular importance are coalition partnersthat serve or can help reach low -income families and fragile families who are the potential orcurrent recipients of state and federally funded social services.
