In September 2006, the Administration for Children and Families’ Office of Family Assistance (OFA) awarded grants to 226 organizations designed to promote healthy marriage and responsible fatherhood. This report summarizes the service models, activities, and preliminary outcomes of a select group of Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood grantees that were identified as part of OFA’s “”Promising Practices”” initiative to document programs that show evidence of positive participant outcomes. The first section of the report provides profiles of the following Healthy Marriage grantees: the Alabama Community Healthy Marriage Initiative; Hispanic Active Relationships Project in Cameron County, Texas; Northwest Family Services relationship and marriage education services in Multnomah County, Oregon; Marriage Works! Ohio (MW! Ohio); Enriching Marriages in Indiana Project; the Family Expectations program in Oklahoma County; Healthy Marriages/Strong Families program in Arizona; and Project Relate in Tallahassee, Florida. The second part of the report profiles Responsible Fatherhood grantees, including: the Promoting Optimal Parenting Skills (P.O.P.S.) program in Texas; the Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Project in South Carolina; the Jefferson County Fatherhood Initiative; the Latin American Youth Center Responsible Fatherhood Program in Washington, D.C.; the Strengthening Families Initiative in New Mexico; the Strong Fathers/Strong Families Project in Florida; the Family Strengthening Project in Minnesota; and the Keeping Families and Inmates Together in Harmony (FAITH) in Ohio. Each profile includes a project description, highlighted outcomes, and success stories. The report closes with a description of some of the current national cross-site evaluations that involve grantees funded though the Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood Initiatives.
