This guide is designed to assist seminar leaders in presenting a 3-hour introduction to Imago Relationship Therapy, a therapy based on a theory of couplehood and a process of helping couples deepen and transform their relationship. The guide begins by explaining the birth of LoveSense and then lists the purposes of the 3-hour couple’s seminar and explains key concepts of Imago, including overcoming reactivity, recognizing how to contribute to the shared space between a couple, therapists as facilitators, partners as healers, the purpose to attraction, and the purpose to conflict. Additional information is provided on logistical preparation for the seminar and the materials needed. Directions for conducting the seminar are then provided. Topics address include: romantic feelings; making LoveSense statements; understanding reactive styles; different relationship styles; strategies for preserving connections; discovering the other through dialogue; using mirroring, validation, and empathy; using appreciation dialogue; moving from an unconscious and reactive relationship to a conscious one; and stages in a conscious love relationship. A DVD that explains Imago is included.
