RTV firmly believes that it is essential to teach young adolescents how to build healthy relationships and find compatible mates for lifelong marriages.

Making it Work goes about doing that by teaching the relational skills necessary to negotiate healthy relationships and marriages. Based on research conducted by the National Extension Relationship & Marriage Education Network, Making it Work’s six chapters cover:

Chapter 1: Who Am I reveals that the foundation of a relationship is knowledge of self. This chapter teaches students to fall in love with who they are on the inside and outside.

Chapter 2: Knowing What I Believe helps students define the morals and values that will govern their lives. Knowing themselves and what they believe is essential in deciding who is compatible.

Chapter 3: You’re Worth the Wait features a candid discussion of the consequences of sex outside marriage, and provides students with practical strategies to deal with barriers.

Chapter 4: Choosing a Mate emphasizes the importance of compatibility when choosing a mate and helps students define their non-negotiables

Chapter 5: Relationship Guidelines introduces  communication skills & the Marital Constitution, a tool to set expectations in a relationship, and educates students about dating violence and domestic abuse.

Chapter 6: Healthy Marriages gives students a primer in what a healthy marriage looks and covers techniques to deal with conflict in a marriage.
