This report explores the relationship between healthy marriages and company productivity and success. It seeks to demonstrate how employees with healthy marriages and relationships can increase long-term profitability and how employees with failing relationships can lead to decreased profitability. The report begins with a review of the state of marriage in America and the benefits of marriage, including statistics that indicate married people have healthier lifestyles, longer lives, more satisfying sex, more wealth, and have children who do better emotionally and academically. The costs of divorce and marital problems to a company are then reported. Following sections identify the positive benefits of marriage for a company and describe what American companies can do to promote stronger marriages. Marriage promotion strategies include offering relationship assessment tools, marriage and relationship education, relational coaching, and access to professional services for intervention. Appendices report survey results on strengths of happy couples and present case study examples of how divorces financially impact companies. 28 references.
