This training manual provides pastors and counselors with information and materials for supervising a PREPARE/ENRICH Marriage Mentor Program in their churches and communities. The program provides premarital and newlywed couples with a marriage mentor couple, feedback sessions using couple exercises, and group discussions for empowering couples. After an outline of the program, the manual describes qualifications of a marriage mentor supervisor, options for developing a marriage mentoring program, and steps for selecting marriage mentors. The PREPARE/ENRICH assessment and the online scoring system are also explained. Chapter 3 discusses the steps for training marriage mentor couples, and Chapter 4 reviews the premarital mentoring phase. Following chapters describe supervisor responsibilities and marriage mentor couple objectives for the newlywed program and for mentoring distressed married couples. A marriage mentor manual is also included that provides information to marriage mentor couples on the goals of marriage mentoring, tips for working with couples, and strategies for the premarital and newlywed mentoring phases and for working with distressed married couples. Handouts are included, along with a sample counselor report on the PREPARE/ENRICH assessment, a workbook for couples, and a brochure on the program. CDs are also included that provide information for supervisors and marriage mentor couples. The CDs include necessary forms for the program, evaluation forms, a PowerPoint presentation on the program, biblical verses to use for the program, and recruitment materials.
