Act 13 of the 2002 Regular Legislative Session allocated funds to the Department of  Social Services for the purpose of developing and implementing family strengthening initiatives to provide intervention and support services designed to enable low-income parents to act in the best interest of their children.  To promote marriage and to help couples in their relationships, the Department of Children & Family Services, Office of Family Support has published two instructional guides.  The first publication, "Marriage Matters," offers 32 pages of suggestions and tips to married couples.  The second publication entitled "Raising Your Child Together" offers suggestions to parents who are not married and emphasizes the importance of both parents' involvement in raising their child(ren).
