Couples having a baby are an audience who benefit greatly from marriage/relationship education (MRE). Having a baby is an especially important opportunity for unmarried couples to assess their relationships. To keep unmarried couples involved in your MRE program, it is beneficial to respect that they are facing many difficult choices and that you are there to give them the tools they need to make choices for their situations. For example, this may be the first set of major decisions the couple is facing: how to support the baby, where they will live, how they will care for the baby, and if they will stay together. MRE can provide them with the tools to help them have productive conversations and make the big decisions in their lives. (Author abstract modified)
