This white paper on “”Strengthening Families in the Korean/Asian Immigrant Community”” has been prepared for the Women’s Bureau, U.S. Department of Labor in support of Secretary Elaine Chao’s goals for a secure workforce, a prepared workforce, and a competitive workforce. Prior research indicates that domestic violence impacts a victim’s ability to seek and retain employment. This study was commissioned by the Women’s Bureau to examine the incidence and impact of domestic violence within a particular community–the Korean/Asian immigrant community–and the role of faith-based and service organizations in responding to such violence. This report makes recommendations on how to provide professional assistance and training about domestic violence to pastors and churches, offers suggestions on making additional resources available to the community at large, and recommends the need for further data.
