Why character education? Because the best way to gain knowledge about love, intimacy, and human sexuality is by promoting conversation and reflection about our common experience. Stories allow us to think and talk about profound emotional experience without the embarrassment of talking directly about ourselves. By considering the actions and decisions of characters in literature, we can be better prepared to deal with similar situations in our own lives. This book has three sections, which correspond to these stages: 1) Early Loves and Losses; 2) Romance; and 3) Commitment and Marriage. This book is intended to enrich rather than supplant the standard school curriculum. (A curriculum resource).
