This set of four DVDs present a 5 hour, 30 minute seminar on using genograms in practice with individuals, couples, or families. The seminar presents the Multifocused Family Genogram (MFG), a combination of graphic tools that helps clinicians visually and conceptually organize and use psychohistorical information gathered during clinical interviews. The MFG is designed to give therapists both a systemic and a comprehensive assessment of a client system and a method to organize the data. With a basic genogram as the template, the MFG summarizes the themes that result from constructing focused genograms on: attachments, emotions, anger, gender, sexuality, romantic love, and culture. In addition to these focused genograms, the family map and time line included in the MFG are explained. Strategies for pragmatically using focused genograms with individuals and couples in diverse relationships are discussed, as well as techniques for systematically collecting information in key areas of individual and family functioning in a clinically relevant manner.
