Research shows that, almost universally, teens aspire to a happy marriage and family — but know very little about how to reach these goals. Their youthful ideas are often shaped, not by facts, but by poor role models, street wisdom, and relentless exposure to popular media.
In 7 one-hour lessons, What’s Reel teaches teens, often for the first time, what's true about successful relationships and marriage. Engaging activities, based on movie themes, help teens compare myths about marriage with recent research. They will examine their expectations about marriage, become critical observers of media, identify good potential partners, and more. Ready-to-teach course, with manual, slides and worksheets (CD), and posters. Sample lessons available. Grades 9-12. (Author abstract)
